You can see how the Tillandsia Caput-Medusae received it's name! With it's thick long twisting leaves, synonomous to Medusa in Greek mythology with her long writhing curling hair. In late Spring, early Summer the Caput-Medusae will start to flower. It produces a long red inflorescence which will eventually produce bright purple flowers tips. The flower can last up to 2 months.
These plants love to hang upside down or can be attached to driftwood, stone or placed in a planter or terrarium.
With this variety of Tillandsia it is fairly easy to spot when they are under-watered, as the leaves will start to curl more, so use this as a cue to up your watering regime. This is a very hardy plant which tolerates a wide range of conditions however it does prefer indirect sunlight.
The plant you will receive is between 15-20cm.
Air Plants do require spraying with a mist of water approx 2-3 times per week or submerging in water once a week for 1 hour. It is best to take the plant out of it's planter for watering and once completely dried then placing back in it's planter. Make sure the base of your plant is completely dry otherwise rot can form. The hotter the climate you live the more misting is required.
Please note that every plant is unique. The photos on this website are examples only and not the actual one you will be receiving. It is very similar, but may slightly vary in colour, shape and size.
They are suitable for QLD, VIC, NSW, ACT, SA climates. Sorry, due to state regulations, this plant can NOT be posted to Tas, WA, NT.
